TICE Coaching

TICE (pronounced “TICE”) stands for Performance Enhancement Coaching, a method grounded not in traditional psychology, but in cognitive science — the study of how the brain processes experience, memory, and behavior.

As a certified athletic trainer with decades of experience across a wide range of settings, I’ve come to deeply understand that the body and mind are inseparable.

Pain and performance issues don’t always originate in the body.

In many cases, especially when no physical cause can be found, the true source lies in the brain — shaped by past experiences, emotional responses, and unconscious memory patterns.

This isn’t as complex as it may sound.

Our “mind” is essentially how the brain functions. For example:
・An athlete struggling to perform after harsh or discouraging words from a coach
・A woman in midlife, trained in childhood to “walk properly,” now shuffling in small steps and prone to falling
・Chronic shoulder or back pain linked not to injury, but to prolonged stress

In these cases, addressing movement alone isn’t enough.
It’s essential to also gently support the state of the mind.

At Little Gym, I offer integrated support — helping clients reconnect with the body’s natural abilities by working with both physical and mental patterns.
